The field of audio engineering and recording is a dynamic, challenging field that is constantly evolving to adapt to new trends in technology and creativity. Audio engineering and recording play key roles in many ways, from sound effects to commercials to radio. This is an intensive training course for those students seeking qualification as audio engineers. The training portion is 72 hours in length, consisting of recording studio and audio workstation time. Students will be evaluated according to their progress on tests, assignments and projects.

This course in audio engineering and mixing will cover aspects like sound engineering, live sound, music recording and audio engineering. Avenues of electronic music like sampling, loops, breaks and beats are also explored. Record production, use of audio engineering software, song writing and other subjects are covered. Most programs will begin with the fundamentals of how to operate modern equipment. This is followed by recording techniques, such as recording consoles and overdubbing techniques. Students will also learn mixing techniques, dynamic control, critical listening and multi effects.

During this intermediate recording course, students delve deeper into the nuances of recording, having already experienced some basic session work. This portion of our program introduces a few of the more technical aspects of recording such as stand alone recorders, basic electronics, amplifier and speaker function, design and use. Intermediate labs in Cubase, Logic and Pro Tools are included. Students also learn about the particulars of commercial recording studios such as common job positions and their responsibilities, studio etiquette, client relations and other essentials involved with beginning a career of working with sound.

Students will also learn the business side of audio engineering and recording.
Students will also learn the business side of audio engineering and recording. This includes planning session work, budgets, copyrights, demo critiques, contracts, royalties and pre-production planning. Courses also include aspects of electronic music and how it is used today as well as the functioning of digital audio workstations. Students are also taught about the synchronizing of both audio and video, sound mixing and sound design. A knowledge of musical theory and songwriting will prove to be helpful when working with musicians and recording music.

By gaining the professional training to pursue a career in audio engineering and recording, you can find employment as a sound designer, foley editor, dialogue editor or assistant engineer.

At the end of this  course you will be able to produce clear, detailed and innovative mixes of your own.
Also at the end of your training if you did it in a outstanding way you might be offered a Coop-placement in our studio.
A summary evaluation and diploma will be provided for each student at the completion of the course.
