I’m a bloody existentialist whose idealism probably stems more from sheer stubbornness than from my origins.

How did I enter the world of music? For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated by the way that different things emit different sounds, and one of the things that produced the most interesting sounds was the guitar – an instrument that my father plays very well.

During my childhood my father made a formidable effort to teach me how to play the guitar, but it seemed that I wasn’t yet ready for that marvelous instrument. Nevertheless, our house was full of other instruments like xylophones, mini organs etc. and these toys steered me towards the keyboards. I was 14 when I received my first keyboard, a Casio CZ101, but the wonderful thing about this Casio was that I was able to create my own sounds and it was polyphonic, more than enough for my early explorations into the world of sound!

My musical education has always been voluntary and I am largely self-taught. In fact, during my formal education at the University of Panama I studied something completely different. However, while I studied I continued to make music, working together with other musicians, writing songs and starting various projects that, due to the non existent nature of the live music scene in Panama, never got very far. Still, some of those early recordings, made on cassette tapes, were eventually played on the radio.

My last project in Panama was Hasta Que Katy Venga, a band that began Bohemian and later transformed into an eclectic mix of progressive rock, blues and folk music. With Hasta Que Katy Venga has produced a studio recorded CD containing five songs.

To this day I´m still amazed by how sound works, and I´m lucky to have landed in BUNKER 8 where sound creation and manipulation are the everyday job.
